Eric Gilliam

Associate

Eric Gilliam is an Associate at Renaissance Philanthropy and author of the FreakTakes Substack. At RenPhil, he is eager to help build and grow more organizations with big, FRO-style technical ambitions and revenue strategies similar to early ARPA’s best contractors. In addition, he contributes to RenPhil’s BiTS program and other projects.

Before joining RenPhil, Eric spent several years at the Good Science Project (where he is still a Fellow) producing operational histories of historically-great industrial R&D labs, science philanthropies, and ARPA projects. He used that work to advise those in the R&D ecosystem on their own projects. Before the Good Science Project, he worked with Freakonomics author Steve Levitt at the University of Chicago Center for RISC.

Eric graduated from Stanford and previously co-founded Project Donor, a nonprofit that helps prospective organ donors who failed their health screen improve health markers to achieve donation eligibility.
