Program Manager, Math Talent
The mission of Renaissance Philanthropy is to fuel a 21st century renaissance by increasing the ambition of philanthropists, scientists, and innovators.
Our aim is to activate a virtuous loop of increasing ambition and impact between philanthropists and innovators: by identifying frontier experts both in science and in new ways of solving problems; by tapping into the growing number of emerging philanthropists; and by building multi-sector initiatives that can harness the power of philanthropy, markets, and governments.
We advance our mission by advising philanthropists, surfacing breakthrough ideas, and incubating ambitious initiatives.
Role Summary
We are recruiting a Program Manager to design and execute a new philanthropic fund focused on identifying and supporting exceptional math talent.
There are “missing Einsteins” in the U.S. and globally and we are not doing nearly enough to find them.
Each year the world welcomes roughly 140 million children. If the far right tail of ability—the top 0.01%—contains outlier scientific and mathematical talent, that implies on the order of 14,000 potential outliers every year. Yet only a small fraction of this talent is ever surfaced, and far fewer are supported to reach their full potential.
This should be the beginning rather than the total sum of our efforts. Even under conservative assumptions about the social value of identifying and nurturing another Katalin Karikó or Srinivasa Ramanujan, we should be willing to invest far more to find and support this talent pool.
As the Program Manager, Math Talent, you will play a central role in supporting a new, thesis-driven philanthropic fund focused on tackling this challenge in the U.S. and globally.
This role is well-suited for someone who thrives at the intersection of program execution, policy entrepreneurship, and donor engagement and who is excited to help build something new in a fast-moving and ambitious environment.
The base compensation range for this role is $140,000 to $190,000, along with a comprehensive and generous benefits package and 401K contribution.
Renaissance Philanthropy has offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, and Tokyo. There is a preference for location in D.C., San Francisco, or New York to enable in-person work and to engage key stakeholders.

Support coordination among partners and synthesize insights into clear memos for internal leadership and donors.
Fundraising Support & Donor Development
