Consultant: Researcher and Editor
We are seeking a skilled researcher editor to help us translate ideas into concept notes, fundraising materials, and memos. This is a collaborative, iterative role and you will work closely with our team to develop the language, structure, and narrative that makes our work tangible to partners and funders.
This role is ideal for someone who is as comfortable: shaping a first-draft concept note from a conversation with a field expert; building out concepts from a list of bullet points through research and writing; and polishing existing pitch documents to align with best practices.
This is a part-time hourly contract engagement. An hourly rate of $50-$100 will be set based on experience and expertise. The role is hybrid with a preference for proximity to our main office hubs (London, New York, Washington D.C., and San Francisco) but we are flexible around exceptional candidates.
Role and Responsibilities
Research
Conduct research to evaluate and validate ideas
Strengthen ideas and concepts by collating relevant data, analysis, and research
Flesh out ideas into more fully formed concept memos, blogs, or presentations
Material Development
Develop and strengthen program and fund materials, based on conversations with leaders, which outline the problems, opportunity, theory of change, and goal
Write and develop case studies and memos which articulate success stories, learnings, and best practices from existing programs and fund
Funder-Facing Materials
Draft and develop fundraising proposals tailored to specific foundation funders and their stated priorities
Review and edit existing program and fund materials to sharpen clarity and voice for a funder audience
Ensure the narrative is consistent and compelling across different programs and funds
Key Qualifications
Exceptional ability to translate complex, technical,and nuanced ideas into clear, precise, and persuasive narratives and written materials
A highly collaborative working style and comfort operating iteratively alongside a lean, fast-moving team
Strong ability to move from listening and context-gathering to a clear, structured draft
